What is See it?
In its simplest form, See It is a multimedia treasure hunt. People use multimedia in the forms of images and video to find the location of treasures hidden around the world. Think of it as a new way to explore the world: explorations through shutters and lenses.
See It is similar to other treasure hunt activities like geocaching and waymarking. The main difference is that you don’t use GPS to find the hidden “spots,” it’s all about shutters and lenses. So there is no need to buy an expensive GPS device or smartphone to do the activity. You can do it easily from your computer by viewing pictures or videos.
Ultimately, YOU create See It. Participants can both search for and hide photospots worldwide. There are some basic rules you must follow and types of photo spots to select from, but other than that, you are free to make See It the activity that you want it to be. See how many you can find, see how many you can hide, or see how creative you can be!
See It is also a research project and aims to explore the ways in which people: search for locations using images, form groups and hunt collaboratively, and play games that move away from computers and into the real world. You can read more about the research activities and See It creators here.
