Rules and Regulations

1. All spots must be reviewed by the See It organizers before they are made available to others. After creating or editing a new spot, the system will notify staff that a spot is ready for review. At this point, they will review it and decide whether or not it conforms to the guidelines.

2. Spots can be removed from the site at any time if they violate any of the rules and regulations. The See it organizers may also choose to lock the accounts of those individuals who violate the rules and regulations.

3. Spots must conform to one of the designated spot types. See the types of allowable spots here.

4. Spots must all contain a physical container at their final location. This container must contain a logbook of some sort (e.g., piece of paper or some other writing surface) that allows people to record that they found the spot by writing either their initials or name. Optionally, spot containers may contain other items for trading, e.g., children’s toys, coins, etc.

5. Spots may not contain videos or images that violate local, provincial, state, or national laws, or placed in locations that violate such laws.

6. Spots may not contain videos or images that contain pornography, racist or discriminatory content, violence or bullying, or other inappropiate acts as deemed so by the See It organizers.

7. Spots may not contain any videos or images of individuals in which the individuals are identifiable.

8. Spots cannot deface public or private property, be buried, be placed in areas highly sensitive to additional traffic caused by people hunting for the spot, be hidden close to active railroad tracks, or be placed near or on government sites.

9. Spots must be at least 100 meters (0.6 miles) from each other to avoid saturation of spots in a particular area. There is no restriction on how close starting locations for spots can be to one another.

10. Spots must be placed in locations that present no more than a low degree of risk to the person hunting for the cache. For example, they cannot be placed in locations such as steep hills that present risk of physical injury to the spot finder.
